Nearly 200 students competing for the 2023 Thnot d’Or

Publish date: 09 March 2023

39 teams will take part in the Thnot d’Or 2023 competition, which this year has as its theme: valorizing prahok with a view to making it a successful product for export.

Eight establishments are represented: the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, the Royal University of Agronomy, the Royal University of Phnom Penh, the Saint-Paul Institute, the University of Battambang, the Institute of Technology of Kampong Speu , the Institute of Technology of KampongCheateal and Meanchey University .

A total of 186 students are registered in this 4th edition of the Thnot d’Or, intended to encourage the spirit of research and innovation among students in agronomy and food production.

Students will have to provide research on all or part of the prahok production chain – processing, conservation, packaging design, etc. – by developing innovative ideas so that this product becomes a standard-bearer for the country on the international gastronomy scene and, through its promotion, a source of increased income for all actors in the production chain.

Before the new Khmer, the competing teams will have to present a summary of the project they wish to develop. The jury will then make a selection of the most relevant projects.

After the Khmer New Year, the six selected teams will develop their project from a documentary and technical point of view to provide the jury with all the data needed to judge its feasibility. The final, which will take place in July, will consist of an oral presentation of this file followed by a question and answer with the jury.
